در این سال‌ها وقوع 11 زلزله بزرگ در تبریز سبب می‌شود که تمام کاشی‌های بیرونی این بنا از بین برود، سقف آن فروبریزد و حدود 80 درصد آن تخریب شود، به طوری که این مسجد 170 سال بدون سقف در زیر باران و برف می‌ماند تا در دوره پهلوی دوباره گنبد آن ساخته می‌شود.

در طبقه زیرین محراب این مسجد، آرامگاه جهانشاه و همسرش قرار دارد .
این مسجد زیبا هم اکنون نیز در حال مرمت است و بخشی از زیبایی‌های خود را دوباره بدست آورده‌است.
